Westonbirt Trip

On a very hot Wednesday in July, Year 2 went on our first school trip to Westonbirt Arboretum.  We enjoyed the morning workshop learning about Plants as Producers. We consolidated our science learning about seed dispersal and the factors required for germination. Acting as seeds we realised just how tricky it is for seeds to grow into mature plants which is why trees have so many seeds!

We looked at how important trees are to so many food chains and how a tree functions inside.  Although we listened very carefully, we couldn't hear the tree slurping and whooshing to help it grow!

We even sat on old logs under the shade of the tall oak trees for our lunch!  Then, V1 went on a Gruffalo hunt and V2 created some natural art in the style of Andy Goldsworthy.

There is so much to see and do at Westonbirt Arboretum and it is different in every season.  We definitely want to go again!
