Trip to Caerleon Roman museum

Year 3 went on a fantastic trip to South Wales to visit the Roman museum at Caerleon. First they practised being a Roman soldier using a wooden sword and shield and getting into the tortoise formation. The pupils were also able to wear Roman body armour and a helmet. Some children commented on how heavy the armour was. In the museum they were able to look at Roman artefacts like arrow heads, swords, coins and even burial head stones. Visiting the remains of the roman fort was amazing but even more amazing for the children was going into the amphitheatre and pretending to be gladiators.
