PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE DOWNLOADING THIS WEEK’S WORK!

Dear Parents

Welcome to the learning resources for the final week of Term 3!  It has certainly been a strange term and we would like to thank you all for the many kind comments we received during Parents’ Evenings about our remote learning packs.  It has been lovely to hear so many of you have found them helpful and easy to use.  We’re also pleased to say that the take-up for our live drop-in sessions has gradually increased recently and we hope to see even more of the children in these sessions next week!

There are a few changes to the schedules for this week that you need to be aware of.  Monday’s live session (normally held at 1.30pm as a drop-in) will this week be held at 10am and will be reserved for guidance and discussion about this week’s English work.   This is due to the different way that the work has been presented and the more open nature of the activities.  We would strongly advise attendance to this live session if you are at all unsure about what to do – it is worth taking a look at the materials in advance!  All of the week’s work for English is found as a special bundle this week (under the guise of The Casefile of Harris Burdick), rather than included with the other daily work.  Please note that the document containing the transcripts does not necessarily need to be printed if your child has easy access to the interactive PowerPoint version of the casefile at the bottom of this page!  This file is best viewed as a presentation (open in PowerPoint, press f5) in order to get the most out of it.

In other changes, Reading and English have been merged in next week’s timetable, meaning that from 9-10.30, children will be working on English, which will consist of both Reading and Writing.  Please note that we are aware that some children may find the amount of choice in this week’s English work to be overwhelming.  As a result, we have provided a suggested order of activities as well as some alternative activities for those who really cannot get on board with it!

As a result of the changes to English, Maths is temporarily moved to 11am, although, as always, you are free to rearrange the timetable in a way that best suits your circumstances!

A further change is that the live sessions on Wednesday and Friday will now begin at 2.15pm each week, rather than 2pm.

As usual, the week’s learning resources can be found on Microsoft Teams as well as on this page.  Please do keep encouraging your child to share their work with us, or let you do so if they don’t have the technical capability.  Work can be emailed to yearsix@catherinewayte.swindon.sch.uk or uploaded to Teams, although we won’t necessarily know it’s there unless you also email us to tell us!

Have a restful weekend and stay safe,

Mr Shammas and Mrs Tomlins
