Catherine Wayte Primary School – Curriculum Map and Planning

We have established a long term curriculum map which shows which units of work or aspects of the National Curriculum programmes of study will be taught during each year from Year 1 to Year 6. Teachers must use this as the basis of medium term planning, deciding with partner teachers which units of work to teach each term and whether it is appropriate to teach subjects discretely or to use cross-curricular links to add interest.

The school has access to resources to enable each unit of work to be taught at an appropriate level. Class teachers break medium term plans down into lesson plans, differentiating to cater for the needs of all pupils with support and challenge for lower, middle and higher attaining pupils.
