Primary School

8th February 2021

Dear parents and carers,

We’ve been really impressed by how hard the children (and adults!) have been working and so everyone should be really proud of their effort and hard work with their learning over the past few weeks.  This week will be the last week of Term 3 (we’re sure there are many sighs of relief!) and we have tried to make it a ‘lighter week’ with some creative and fun volcano activities, whilst making them straightforward so that less adult support is needed.

We understand that some children may be struggling with missing their school friends.  For your child’s (and your own) well-being, you may like to suggest that your child occasionally works with a classmate over a virtual platform to share ideas and work together. This would also help to maintain friendships over this time, which can be a worry for your child.

The work that we would like to be handed in for this week (whenever possible, but by Monday 22nd February) is:

  • English work from Friday (final best copy of one chosen poem);
  • Maths marked work from Friday (per teacher’s instructions); and
  • Purple Mash Extreme Earth leaflet to be submitted on Purple Mash.

Children may also choose to share their artwork from the week in our final sharing assembly of the term on Friday.

Both teachers have allocated maths fluency PowerPoints on Abacus this week; they are called: Tree Statistics, More Tree Statistics and Go & Multiply.  There are no new online games relating to this week’s work.

Please note: there is no Friday folder included on this home learning page this week, as there are no related resources needed for this day’s work.

Thank you for your continued engagement and support.

Have a lovely week and stay safe!

Mrs Hemns, Mrs Minter, Mrs Willett and the Year 5 Team.
