Moon Buggies
In Year 2 we have learnt about the explorer, Neil Armstrong, and the Apollo 11 mission to land the first people on the moon. We also found out that on subsequent missions, astronauts travelled on the lunar surface in a lunar rover (moon buggy).
In pairs, we have designed our own moon buggy and started to make it today.
We had to measure a piece of wood very carefully to get 2 lengths of 18cm and 2 lengths of 12cm. We learnt to MEASURE TWICE, CUT ONCE!
Then, very carefully we used a hacksaw to saw through the marks and because some of the edges were splintery we rubbed them on sandpaper to smooth them.
We have started to think about how we can join the pieces together to make the chassis (frame/body) and are eager to try out some ideas.
