Barbury Castle
It was a beautiful day for a visit to an Iron Age fort - as you can see from the pictures below! We explored the inner and outer fortifications, talked about the different ways that the community would have protected themselves and explored the local area using our compasses and six-figure grid references on the OS maps.
In the afternoon, we flew kites, made field sketches and went on a (fairly short!) hike along the Ridgeway. It was a beautiful day - although Mr Shammas's high-vis t-shirt was a magnet for flies...
