Shakespeare: Romeo and Juliet and Macbeth
In English lessons, Year 6 pupils read two of Shakespeare's plays: Romeo and Juliet and Macbeth. Acting activities were performed to help pupils understand the plays and once they fully understood the plots, they used these plays to inspire their writing. After studying Romeo and Juliet, they wrote persuasive letters and diary entries and once they understood the plot of Macbeth, they wrote poems based on the witches' spells and an detailed narrative of Macbeth's torment and anguish just before he murders King Duncan.
