Victorian School Trip
Year 5 have now enjoyed an authentic Victorian school day at Sevington where they experienced many different aspects of Victorian school life - including The Articles of Correction!
Miss Squire (the class teacher) taught the children about life at the school and demonstrated the different lessons for boys and girls. The girls learnt about all aspects of the kitchen and general housework whilst the boys studied science and learnt about the workings of a bee hive. The children were on their best behaviour throughout the day - especially when Miss Squire took out her posture board, cane and dunce cap!
The trip was a fascinating experience to launch Year 5's new topic "The Victorians" and truly immersed the children into a realistic view of school life in 1897.
We now look forward to learning more about this fascinating era in our upcoming history lessons.
