Chinese New Year

Chinese new year marks the end of Winter and beginning of Spring in the Chinese calendar. It begins between late January and February, when the new moon appears.

The New Year celebrations last fifteen days, finishing with a Chinese Lantern Festival.

During the celebrations: red envelopes with money in are gifted to children to pass on good fortunes and blessings, houses are cleaned- to sweep out the old and welcome the new, families celebrate with special food and houses are decorated with paper cuttings. Follow the links below to find out even more.
