Catherine Wayte

Primary School

PSHE

At Catherine Wayte Primary School, PSHE is taught as a separate subject with weekly lessons designed to teach the knowledge, skills and understanding as set out in the National Curriculum. We follow the Jigsaw scheme of work which brings together PSHE Education, emotional literacy, social skills and spiritual development in a comprehensive scheme of learning. The Jigsaw scheme follows a mindful approach and spiritual, moral, social and cultural opportunities are mapped throughout. We believe that to become a successful citizen of the world, it is vital that children  foster positive self-esteem and respect, in order to achieve their potential in school and go on to lead a safe and fulfilled life.

Teamwork in Year 4

Year 4 enjoyed their lesson on  teamwork as part of their PSHE lesson. In groups, the pupils discussed which gems were useful for team work and used a diamond 9 to sort them in order of importance. They all quickly realised it was tricky as many gems are needed for a successful team! It was a great lesson though and reminded us of the qualities we need to use in school!
