Primary School

Religious Education

At Catherine Wayte Primary School, Religious Education is led by our Humanities team which includes Mrs Lisa Partridge, Miss Sophie Acres, Mrs Nicky Northam and Mrs Emma Stringer.

We follow the locally agreed syllabus a link to which is included below. Further information can be found with year group topic webs which can be found in the Children's section / class pages of our school website. Furthermore, our long-term curriculum plan which is included within the curriculum section of our school website, provides additional information.

Parents have a right to withdraw their children from religious education (RE) and collective worship. Requests to withdraw their child from these aspects of our curriculum should be discussed with the head teacher.

Our collective worship policy and assembly themes can also be found within the curriculum section of our school website. Other information such as SMSC, community cohesion and British Value is also available on our school website. For ease, these links are included below:

"The principal aim of RE is to engage pupils in systematic enquiry into significant human questions which religion and worldwide views address, so that they can develop the understanding and skills needed to appreciate and appraise varied responses to these questions, as well as develop responses of their own.”
