Liddington Residential October 2024

Everyone enjoyed some great activities today both in the air and on the ground.  The air activities included the Giant Swing, which was a firm favourite for lots of children today, and Jacob's Ladder, which was a team climbing activity and was much harder than it looked.  For the ground level activities, there was archery tag and the sensory trail and these were both good fun.  To finish off the evening, everyone enjoyed getting dressed up for the disco and there was plenty of dancing going on! We have laser tag and climbing tomorrow before returning to Abbey Meads mid-afternoon.

Well, it certainly was a very wet Wednesday for everyone - but not due to the weather; it was due to falling in the water after paddling the rafts which they had built (mostly by choice!).  We have had a fantastic day and a dry one after the raft building activity.  The children enjoyed the day's activities which included having a go on the zipwire, if they wanted to, and many children also attempted the trapeze with lots of them successfully completing the 'Leap of Faith'.  There were also some ground level activities such as archery tag and aeroball, which involved shooting goals while bouncing on a trampoline.  This evening's activity was 'Ambush', which was like a game of hide and seek in the woods and at night!  Everyone has had a good day and we are all very tired, but we are looking forward to another exciting day tomorrow.

We have had a great day despite the wet weather.  We were lucky in the morning with the weather and persevered as much as we could in the rain in the afternoon.  Today's activities were abseiling and the crate stacking challenge and all those that took part really enjoyed them.  The children have also enjoyed some less daring activities: problem solving where they had to work as a team and survival skills, which involved building dens and trying to learn how to start a fire (quite difficult in today's weather!).  The food has been delicious and we've had three cooked meals; after dinner, all children visited the shop to spend their money.  They are now off to the 'campfire wet alternative' where they are going to eat marshmallows and sing songs in the hall, before settling down for the night.  We are hoping for better weather tomorrow but it has been a good day!

Monday 7th October

After a short and quick journey, we have all arrived safely in Liddington.  The weather has been dry so we spent time outdoors playing games like chaos tag and splat and settling into our rooms.  After a delicious dinner, we played a game of real life Cluedo, which was great fun in the dark! Now they are all settling down for the night.
