Metacognition - Learning to Juggle!

Metacognition

Metacognition lessons are all about learning how we learn. Each year the group learns a new skill and thinks about which was the best way for them to learn.

Did they need to practise it?

Did they need to watch someone else show/model the skill?

Did they need to work on it by themselves?

So far Year 5 pupils have learnt to:

Tie shoe laces in Y1

Use chopsticks in Y2

Learn sign language in Y3

Learn to sew in Y4.

In Year 5, they are learning how to juggle. The first lesson was all about exploring the juggling balls - could they juggle 3 balls? Not yet was the answer. Next they explored a step by step process of learning how to juggle. The video guide recommended they practise with scarves - throw, throw, catch, catch.

Have a look at the photos - fun was had by all.
