DT/STEM Project - Microbit Maze Games

Part 1 – Designing
Year 6 pupils started by gathering design ideas and using TinkerCad (a 3-D modelling program) to design their own maze game and then they worked in partners to come up with their joint design.

Part 2 – Experimenting with barriers
Next, they experimented with cardboard barriers to ensure that their design would work as a maze game. They experimented with different types of barriers such as flange, tab and L-brace.

Part 3 – Making and decorating

They then decorated the box in a theme of their choice and design and created the barriers, which was harder than it looked. Next, they added obstacles of their choice and final details.

Part 4 – Connecting the Microbits
Now for the tricky part! Finally, they attached the Microbit to the stand and added an electrical circuit attached to two sides of the box covered with foil.  When the Microbit is turned on, it should count points when the metallic ball hits the foil completing the circuit.
