British Science Week - Oobleck
British Science Week this year was all about "Change and Adapt". We were greeted by bowls and a white powder in the classroom - this turned out to be cornflour. Our teachers added water (slowly) and we then had to mix it together. It did not turn out like we expected! It is known as oobleck and is a non-Newtonian fluid. This means that when left it is liquid but if a force is acted upon it, it becomes a solid. We also watched a video where people filled a swimming pool with oobleck and walked across it!
We then discussed other changes in our world and how they impact us. After this, we created a poster about "Change".
