World Book Day
We had a wonderful time celebrating World Book Day at school!
It was absolutely lovely to see the children all dressed up as their favourite book characters. They made such a fantastic effort, and it really brought the magic of stories to life around the school.
Throughout the day, the children took part in a special book tasting session, where they had the opportunity to explore and read a variety of different books. They enjoyed sampling new genres and discovering stories they might not usually choose. As part of the activity, they also designed and created their own bookmarks, which they were very proud to take home. To finish off our book tasting, the children enjoyed a yummy biscuit while sharing their thoughts about the books they had explored.
One of the highlights of the day was that every child was able to choose a book of their own to keep. It was wonderful to see their excitement as they selected a story to enjoy at home and share with you.
In class, we also wrote a book review based on our current fiction text, Marcy and the Riddle of the Sphinx. The children reflected thoughtfully on the characters, plot and themes, and shared their opinions about the story.
It was a fun-filled day that celebrated reading for pleasure, creativity and imagination. Thank you for your continued support in encouraging a love of reading at home!
