Design and Technology - Cams!

As part of the Year 5 Design and Technology Curriculum, we have been learning about cams - how they are used, where they are used and why they are used.

To support our understanding of how cams are used, we designed our own Victorian Toy. We had to look at and evaluate what would Victorian child play with; what illustrations would be appropriate. Using all these ideas, we designed our toys.

On Thursday 5th June and Friday 7th June, we constructed our toys. This included measuring dowelling, finding the correct cams to use and sawing the dowelling to the correct length. Lots of gems were used during both of these days including resilience, patience, perseverance and have-a-go.

Below are some photos of us constructing our Victorian Toys. Watch out for photos of the completed toys.
