Support for Maths

We recognise the central importance of numeracy as a subject in its own right and as a subject whose skills are needed in other subjects and throughout life.
The pupils develop as mathematicians in these key areas:
° Using and applying mathematics
° Number and Algebra
° Shape and Space and Measures
° Handling Data
Mathematics enables pupils to analyse and communicate information and is important in enabling pupils to develop a logical approach to understanding relationships in number, shape and space, measures and handling data.
The teaching of mathematics involves the pupil having a good understanding of mental methods and there is an emphasis on using efficient mental methods. These methods rely on pupils knowing their number bonds and multiplication tables. Please encourage your child to learn his/her number bonds and multiplication tables.
