Primary School

22nd June

Dear Year 6 children and parents

We hope you and your families continue to keep safe and well. Here are some home learning activities for those of you who are not coming in to school and to supplement the learning of those of you who are, should you wish to try them.

Do continue to keep in touch on the Year 6 email address:

English

Writing

At a few different times this year, you have included setting descriptions in your writing, most notably in your Mayan story about Choche. For a writing task this week you could have a go at writing a setting description for a busy place. Please see the attached document for all the information about this task, as well as a planning sheet you could use if you wanted to.

Spellings

Half of the spelling words are based on the busy place activity; the other half are antonyms (or nearly antonyms!)

vibrant                                lifeless

thronging                           vacant

hectic                                 leisurely

frenetic                              calm

bustling                              relaxed

overcrowded                     deserted

cacophonous                    silent

Word jumble

Today's word jumble is based on the theme of the calmer side of life:

l i q u y t n i r a t

Maths

For Maths, there are some money word problems for you to try. We have also attached the answers so you, or someone else, can mark the ones you do or find out the answer if you are not sure.

Geography

In Geography we are going to continue looking at coasts, looking this week at coastal features caused by erosion. Look through the attached PowerPoint about coastal features and either have a go at the tasks as you go through it, or try the tasks on the separate worksheet.

Until next time, take care and stay safe.

Mrs Tomlins and Mr Shammas
