Governors

Meetings of the full Governing Body are to be held on: Wednesday 24th September, Wednesday 3rd December, Wednesday 4th February, Wednesday 25th March, Wednesday 20th May, Wednesday 8th July. The Staffing Committee will meet three times, Finance and Premises six times and Learning and Teaching five times during the academic year.

What have we been up to?

Recent training has been received in Financial Management in Schools, esafety and in connection with the Every Child Matters Agenda.

We have been involved in interviewing and appointing new members of staff, working with teachers at TD days, School Improvement Planning, acquiring funding via Travel Plan, supporting teaching and learning during theme weeks and developing accommodation at the school.

 David Cassidy, Chair of Governors

Other information: An accountant who works in business planning and performance management for the Environment Agency in Bristol.

David has 2  daughters; one in year 4 and one starting in reception in September 2008.

Laura Brierley, Head Teacher

Other information: I enjoy working with the Catherine Wayte Primary School community, having joined the school in January 2007. This is my second headship and I have spent 28 years in the teaching profession. My husband is a teacher. We have two daughters age 16 and 20....both have expressed an interest in teaching!

Kate Boonham, Vice-chair of Governors

Other information: Kate has a child in Year 3 and another due to start in Reception in September 2009.

 

Mike Todd

Other information: A Business Development Manager in the civil engineering and road construction industry.

Mike is married with 1 daughter, (Alexandra) in year 3 at the school.

Tanya Parkinson

Area of responsibility: SEN and Child Protection

Other information: I am a children’s counsellor and trainee play therapist.  I visit primary schools in areas of social deprivation, within Swindon and work with children displaying emotional and/or behavioural issues.

 I have a 14 year old son, who attended Catherine Wayte and an 11 year old daughter who has just left Year 6.  I previously worked at the school for 5 years.

Rebecca Deighton

Other information: Part qualified accountant who prepares management accounts within the finance department of a large local Insurance company.

Rebecca has 2 daughters; one in year 3 and one hopefully beginning in reception in September 2009.

 

Samantha Ward

Other information: Sam's personnel skills are invaluable and she often joins interview panels and advises on staffing issues. Sam lives locally.

Rachel Farmer

Other information: As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, Rachel finds it interesting and useful to see things from a governor's perspective and to represent the views of colleagues.

Beccy Thomas

Other information: Beccy works as a Teaching Assistant and her two younger children are pupils at the school.

 

Kirsty O'Neill

Other information: Kirsty has been a teacher at Catherine Wayte for the past 5 years.  She in Early Years Team Leader and co-ordinates Modern Foreign Languages and Key Stage 1 Science.

Emma Brown

Deputy Head Teacher

Emma has taught at Catherine Wayte primary School since it opened and has been promoted to her current role. She has been Acting Head Teacher and attends governors' meetings by invitation. Her input is invaluable.

Other information: Pauline has been a governor since Catherine Wayte Primary School was established. Despite being busy in other aspects of her life, Pauline remains involved in the life of the school.
